Some of you may know me for my house music, but I've wanted to express the rest of my influences for years now.

I've always been obsessed with the idea that art shouldn't be functional, but purely aesthetic, and the way that philosophy intersects with house music, which officially IS functional, created specifically to be played by a DJ to make people dance. As such, am I a pure artist or just an aspiring craftsman? I've spent years considering what my music would sound like devoid of the functionality of being "danceable" and how to express the sounds in my brain that aren't for nightclub use.

This is it, The Mothloop Experiment.

It's also inspired by sheltering in place - I'm unable to avoid the influences of increased loneliness, extremism, and tension, so I've let them give me permission to express myself more deeply - simultaneously more intimately and more metaphorically.

I guess this is my "mature statement" and also me at my most pompous and effete...
